Dhaka District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam has issued strict directives to field-level officials aimed at eliminating corruption and harassment within the land offices of the district. The crucial instructions were delivered during a formal view-exchange meeting held on Tuesday, September 2, 2026, inside the conference room of the Dhaka district administration.
The high-level meeting brought together key administrative personnel, including assistant commissioners of land, union land assistant officers, and union land sub-assistant officers. During the gathering, Farida Khanam emphasized that citizens visiting land offices are not seeking personal favors from any official or individual. Instead, she asserted that they are exercising their right to receive legitimate services from the state, making proper service delivery both a professional responsibility and a moral duty for government employees.
Highlighting the core objective of the administration, the Dhaka District Magistrate stated that the ultimate goal extends far beyond merely disposing of administrative files. She stressed that officials must focus on genuinely resolving people's problems. Furthermore, she underscored the necessity of ensuring that the general public can access land services through transparent and simplified procedures completely free of middlemen, allowing them to return home satisfied without facing unnecessary harassment.
The administration also reviewed financial performance data during the session, highlighting significant revenue collection achievements for the 2025-26 fiscal year within Dhaka district. For the general sector, the targeted demand for land development tax collection was set at 84,70,72,280 Bangladeshi taka. Outperforming this initial target, the actual collection reached an impressive 93,68,40,786 Bangladeshi taka, resulting in an exceptional collection rate of 110.6 percent compared to the established demand.
In addition to the general land development tax, the district administration successfully gathered substantial revenue from other specific categories. Official figures revealed that institutional land development tax contributions yielded 26,11,11,160 Bangladeshi taka. Meanwhile, lease money collections derived from vested properties added another 8,76,86,125 Bangladeshi taka to the total state revenue.
