Zorargonj Buddhist High School, located in Mirsarai of Chattogram, has taken a significant step toward energy independence by installing a solar panel system on its campus. Faced with ongoing challenges related to load-shedding and high utility costs, the educational institution initiated this self-funded project three years ago to ensure a stable power supply for its academic activities.

As part of this infrastructure upgrade, a 12-kilowatt solar panel system was installed across the rooftops of two of the school's three buildings. The management decided to utilize the school's own financial resources to execute the installation, bypassing the need for external grants or government funding for the initiative.

The investment of 24 lakh taka has yielded immediate financial and operational benefits for the institution. Prior to the installation, the school faced heavy electricity expenses, but the transition to solar energy has caused the monthly power bill to drop dramatically from 30,000 taka down to just four to five thousand taka.

In addition to solving the persistent electricity and load-shedding problems on campus, the institution has also excelled academically. According to recent performance records, Zorargonj Buddhist High School, commonly known as JB School, has secured the position of the best secondary school in Mirsarai upazila in the current year's secondary examinations.
