Chittagong hosts two-day Waheedul Haq Sangeet Prabrajya workshop

A two-day workshop titled 'Waheedul Haq Sangeet Prabrajya' has officially commenced in Chittagong under the organizational initiative of the Jatiya Rabindra Sangeet Sammilan Parishad. The event brings together more than a hundred women and men who are participating in the comprehensive training sessions designed to explore classical and regional musical traditions.

The opening ceremony of this significant cultural event took place on Friday, September 11, 2026, at the well-known Theatre Institute auditorium located in Chittagong. The program commenced with the ceremonial lighting of lamps, officially inaugurating the scheduled activities that are set to continue through Saturday, September 12, 2026.

The inaugural session was formally launched through the traditional lighting of lamps, performed by the organization's president and noted researcher Dr. Mofidul Haque. Alongside Dr. Mofidul Haque, several prominent personalities were present at the venue, including Bulbul Islam, Dr. A.K.M. Sirajul Islam, Reeta Dutta, Abu Farha Palash, Mohua Monjori Sunanda, Sharmin Sathi Islam, and Mamunur Rashid.

During the inaugural events, Dr. Mofidul Haque delivered a keynote speech addressing the gathered participants and cultural enthusiasts. In his remarks, he stated that Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam are an inseparable part of Bengali consciousness, culture, and daily life, emphasizing that society must be rebuilt by following the paths of patriotism and humanity championed by these literary giants.

The workshop is being organized directly by the Chittagong branch of the Jatiya Rabindra Sangeet Sammilan Parishad as part of their ongoing efforts to promote cultural education. Over the course of the two-day program, more than a hundred participants are engaging in specialized sessions focused on musical training and cultural heritage.
