Chittagong Factory Fined Tk 4 Lakh for Producing Adulterated Margarine

A mobile court operated by the Bangladesh Safe Food Authority has penalized a food manufacturing establishment in Chittagong for operating in an environment deemed hazardous to public health. During a targeted enforcement drive conducted on August 19, 2026, the authorities imposed a financial penalty of 400,000 taka on Quality Food Products, a local enterprise operating within the region.

The operation took place inside the manufacturing facilities of Quality Food Products, situated in the Agrabad Sultan Colony area of Chittagong. Inspections of the premises revealed severe operational discrepancies, most notably the unauthorized and unregistered production of adulterated margarine under conditions that officials described as exceptionally detrimental to human health.

Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Masuma Akter Kona spearheaded the mobile court operation, leading the inspection team directly into the factory to assess compliance with national food safety regulations. Her leadership on the ground ensured that the legal procedures mandated by the relevant legislative framework were strictly followed during the enforcement action.

Farhan Rajib, the district safe food officer for Chittagong, officially confirmed the details and outcome of the operation to the public and news media. He elaborated on the specific justifications behind the punitive measures taken against the commercial establishment.

Detailing the exact grounds for the penalty, Farhan Rajib provided an official statement explaining the regulatory breach. He stated, "Due to the observance of various irregularities, including the production of adulterated margarine in an unregistered manner in an environment extremely harmful to human health, Quality Food Products was fined four lakh taka in accordance with the Safe Food Act."
