Cabinet to Review Ninth National Pay Scale Recommendations in Dhaka

The Finance Ministry is scheduled to present the final recommendations of the ninth national pay scale during a cabinet meeting in Dhaka on Monday, August 31. The administrative development comes following extensive preparations regarding the remuneration structure for public sector employees across the country.
Under the newly proposed recommendations, the basic salary for government employees spanning from the first to the 20th grades is slated to be increased by up to 100 percent. Additionally, the policy framework dictates that 30 percent of this enhanced basic salary will officially take effect starting July 1 of the current year.
Furthermore, authorities have formulated a strategic plan to implement the entirely new wage structure progressively across four distinct phases spanning over two separate fiscal years. This phased rollout aims to systematically manage the financial adjustments required for the extensive public service workforce.
The broader restructuring process was officially set into motion on July 27 of the current year, when the interim government established a 23-member ninth national pay commission. This specialized commission has been functioning under the leadership of former finance secretary Zakir Ahmed Khan.
