Cabinet Committee Approves BDT 384 Crore Road Projects in Bandarban

The government procurement cabinet committee has officially approved the procurement proposals for the construction and development of three roads across Bandarban in two distinct packages. The high-level decision was finalized during a meeting held on September 2, 2026, at the Secretariat, bringing a significant infrastructure development step to the region.

The meeting was presided over by Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, who oversaw the approval of the extensive civil works. Implementing these two comprehensive packages will require a combined total expenditure of approximately BDT 384 crore, marking a substantial financial commitment to regional connectivity.

A detailed financial breakdown of the approved initiative indicates that the first package has been allocated a specific budget of BDT 193 crore 84 lakh 13 thousand and 28. Meanwhile, the second package has been granted an approved financial outlay of BDT 190 crore to cover its respective construction and development requirements.

Execution of this major infrastructure undertaking will be financed through a combination of the government's development budget and funding from the World Bank. The physical implementation on the ground will be directly handled by the Roads and Highways Department as the designated government agency.

Contracts for the respective construction packages have been awarded to prominent domestic firms. Specifically, the work for the first package has been officially assigned to Spectra Engineers Limited, while the second package will be executed by National Development Engineers Limited.
