A significant consultation meeting regarding the draft amendment of the Company Act 1994 was officially held at the FBCCI office located in Motijheel, Dhaka, on September 7, 2026. The gathering brought together prominent business leaders and organizational figures to deliberate on modernizing the foundational corporate legislation.

Commerce and Industry Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir graced the occasion as the chief guest, engaging directly with the industry stakeholders in attendance. During the proceedings, the minister emphasized the practical application of the legislation, noting that the law is primarily utilized by business operators themselves and must therefore reflect their actual needs, practical experiences, and future demands to remain contemporary.

Addressing the timeline for feedback and suggestions on the proposed legal revisions, Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir stated, "মতামত দিতে ৩০ দিন লাগলে ৩০ দিন নেন, ৬০ দিন লাগলে ৬০ দিন নেন। কিন্তু মনে রাখতে হবে আমাদের আরওও অ্যাজেন্ডা আছে।" He further elaborated on the broader legislative context during the session, remarking, "এই কোম্পানি ল’টা কয়েকশ এলিমেন্টের মাত্র একটা এলিমেন্ট। তো এজন্য ৩০ দিন সময় নিলে নেন, বাট মেক আপ ইউর মাইন্ড, কাম আপ উইথ গুড সাজেশন।"

The important meeting was formally chaired by FBCCI Administrator Fazlul Haque, who guided the discussions among the participants. The event also featured a comprehensive keynote presentation delivered by Barrister Nihad Kabir, the former president of MCCI, outlining critical aspects of the draft amendment.

Numerous distinguished representatives from various trade organizations and corporate entities attended the consultation at the FBCCI office in Motijheel. Among the notable individuals present were Mahmud Hasan Khan, Mohammad Hatem, Taskeen Ahmed, Shawkat Aziz Russell, Anwar-Ul Alam Chowdhury, Syed Nasim Manzur, Abdul Haque, Simin Rahman, and Mohammad Mostofa Jamal Haider.

The extensive deliberations involved key institutions including the FBCCI, MCCI, BGMEA, BKMEA, DCCI, BTMA, Bangladesh Chamber of Industries, Apex, Barvida, Transcom, and the Ministry of Commerce. Stakeholders used the platform to review the draft amendment thoroughly before finalizing their structured recommendations for the government.
