Bride's Mother Electrocuted on Eve of Wedding in Panchagarh

A tragic incident unfolded on August 27, 2026, in Bhandaru village, located under the Chaklahat union of Panchagarh Sadar upazila in Panchagarh. Rosena Begum, a 50-year-old woman, lost her life after suffering an accidental electrocution just one night before her daughter's scheduled wedding ceremony.

The victim's daughter, Ichiron Aktar, was supposed to be married on Thursday. In the lead-up to the big day, the family household was deeply immersed in cooking, preparations, and welcoming the festive atmosphere typical of rural weddings in the region.

Amidst the busy preparations on the wedding eve, Rosena Begum attempted to move an electric wire while performing household chores. During this action, she came into contact with live electricity and was instantly electrocuted, plunging the joyous household into sudden grief and shock.

Following the accident, family members and relatives rushed her without delay to the Panchagarh Modern Sadar Hospital in an urgent bid to save her life. However, upon arrival at the medical facility, the attending emergency department physician examined her and formally declared her dead.

Saiful Islam, a relative of the deceased, described the heartbreaking sequence of events leading up to the tragedy. He noted that everyone in the house was entirely occupied with wedding arrangements when his aunt suffered the fatal electric shock during domestic work, adding that despite swift transportation to the hospital, she could not be saved and the wedding has been temporarily postponed until possibly next Sunday.

Local authorities responded to the incident through the Panchagarh Sadar police station. Because the family formally expressed no complaints or suspicions regarding the death, law enforcement authorities released the body directly to the mourning relatives without performing an autopsy, while an unnatural death case was duly registered at the police station.
