BNP Leader Relieved of Posts Over Schoolgirl Gang-Rape Case

A schoolgirl has initiated legal proceedings by filing a gang-rape and blackmail case against a local leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) within the Kendua upazila of Netrokona district. The formal complaint, submitted to the Kendua police station, has triggered significant local developments, resulting in immediate organizational action against the accused political figure as well as ongoing police operations to apprehend all involved parties.

According to the verified details of the case, the victim's father stepped forward as the plaintiff to file the lawsuit at Kendua police station. The formal charges lodged against the perpetrators include severe violations under both the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act and the Pornography Control Act, reflecting the grave nature of the allegations involving the blackmail and sexual assault of a minor schoolgirl.

The primary accused in the criminal case has been identified as Rafiqul Islam Bhuiyan Bokul, a local political figure associated with the party. Following the filing of the case and the ensuing police investigation, Rafiqul Islam Bhuiyan Bokul has gone into hiding and currently remains a fugitive from the law, prompting law enforcement authorities to pursue his whereabouts.

In response to the criminal charges brought against him, the local organizational hierarchy has taken swift disciplinary measures. Rafiqul Islam Bhuiyan Bokul has been officially relieved of all his positions within the Kendua পৌর বিএনপি (Kendua Pourashava BNP), distancing the local branch from the individual implicated in the serious allegations.

Elaborating on the disciplinary action taken by the local political body, Moazzem Hossain Khan explained the limitations and decisions of the committee. 'We do not have the power to expel. Senior leaders of the party can make the decision to expel. Therefore, he has been relieved using organizational power,' Moazzem Hossain Khan stated regarding the handling of the accused leader's status within the organization.

Meanwhile, law enforcement has made initial headway in the criminal investigation by apprehending one of the suspects named in the police report. The second accused in the case, Abu Mia, has been successfully arrested by the police and subsequently sent to jail by order of the court as judicial proceedings advance.

The victimized schoolgirl has come forward with harrowing personal accounts detailing the systematic abuse and intimidation she faced at the hands of the perpetrators. Describing the coercive circumstances of the ordeal, the victim stated, 'Bokul Mia and Abu Mia used to take me to different houses by threatening me. At that time, I did not understand anything. They also made me do it with other people. Because I have told all these things, they might kill me. I want strict justice for all these things.'
