BGB Strengthens Border Awareness Campaigns in Kushtia and Meherpur

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has significantly strengthened its public awareness activities along the frontiers of Kushtia and Meherpur. The comprehensive security and outreach initiative is specifically designed to prevent illegal border crossings, unauthorized push-ins, and various forms of cross-border smuggling.

The proactive campaign is being spearheaded by the Kushtia Battalion, officially designated as the 47 BGB. As part of this ongoing security effort, authorities initiated a series of localized information drives starting from Tuesday, August 26, 2026, to directly engage with residents living near the international border.

To ensure maximum community participation and awareness, the battalion has deployed continuous public announcements utilizing loudspeakers across the border areas. In addition to the audio broadcasts, local authorities have organized focused discussion meetings and public awareness rallies to educate citizens on the dangers of unauthorized border activities.

During these community gatherings, local residents living near the frontier have been explicitly urged to refrain from participating in illegal border crossings. Furthermore, community members are being strongly advised to stay away from illicit activities including drug trafficking, weapons smuggling, human trafficking, and general smuggling operations.

As part of the security partnership with local populations, citizens have also been instructed to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious individuals or activities directly to the BGB. Lieutenant Colonel Rashed Kamal Rony confirmed the ongoing nature of these efforts, stating that discussion meetings and public announcements via loudspeakers have been actively conducted since Tuesday to raise awareness among the border populations, noting that such promotional campaigns are carried out periodically while confirming that the current border situation remains entirely normal.
