Beauty Sarkar Shares Her Inspiring Journey on Prothom Alo Trust's Event
Beauty Sarkar, a university student from Tangail, shared her inspiring academic journey during an online programme organized by Prothom Alo Trust. She discussed her ambitions in environmental science and offered advice to students facing initial challenges.
An online event titled 'Oditiyar Golpo', organized by Prothom Alo Trust, was broadcast from Dhaka, Bangladesh, on April 30, 2026. The programme highlighted the remarkable journey of Beauty Sarkar, who hails from a village in the Mirzapur upazila of Tangail. Breaking traditional barriers within her family, Sarkar has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first female member of her family to enter the university level of education.
Sarkar is currently pursuing her higher education as a third-year student in the Department of Environmental Science at the Asian University for Women (AUW) in Chattogram. Her academic pursuits and potential were recognized in 2022 when she was awarded the prestigious IDLC-Prothom Alo Trust 'Oditiya' scholarship, a support system that has aided her educational journey.
During the online broadcast, Sarkar articulated her future professional and academic aspirations, connecting them directly to her current field of study. "Since I am studying environmental science, my desire is to work with innovative technology and waste management," she stated during the event, outlining her vision for contributing to sustainable environmental practices.
Sarkar also offered words of encouragement and practical advice to fellow students who might feel intimidated by differing academic backgrounds or initial disadvantages. Addressing newcomers and peers, she emphasized the importance of resilience by stating, "One should not feel discouraged by seeing English-medium or other students at the very beginning. You have to keep self-confidence."
