Bangladesh has released its daily dengue update and statistics report for Saturday, August 15, 2026, revealing notable discrepancies in the figures provided regarding fatalities and hospitalisations across different sources. The latest data underscores the ongoing public health challenge posed by the mosquito-borne disease as tracking agencies compile and release their daily metrics to monitor the spread and impact of the outbreak.

According to the official figures detailed in the first source, two dengue patients died during the 24 hours leading up to 8:00am. This same 24-hour mortality figure is corroborated by the second source, which similarly records two deaths over the identical timeframe. Despite the alignment in recent daily deaths, cumulative numbers diverge when examining the broader scope of the epidemic.

The first source reports that 693 dengue patients were newly hospitalised, bringing its recorded total of dengue cases in Bangladesh to 22,243. In terms of overall fatalities, this source puts the total number of dengue deaths at 65. Furthermore, it notes that 1,615 dengue patients are currently undergoing treatment in healthcare facilities across the country.

In contrast, the second source presents slightly different figures for hospital admissions and cumulative totals. It records 723 dengue patients newly hospitalised within the reporting period, alongside a lower total dengue death count of 63. The cumulative number of total dengue cases in this second dataset stands at 21,550, with a corresponding 1,593 dengue patients reported to be actively undergoing treatment.

Despite the variations in cumulative totals and new admissions, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) maintains that total dengue patients currently undergoing treatment are accounted for within the formal reporting framework. The conflicting data points from the Directorate General of Health Services and reports highlighted by the Daily Star demonstrate the complexities involved in aggregating nationwide health statistics during an active outbreak.
