Bangladesh PM to Visit New York for UN General Assembly in September

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir has officially announced that the Prime Minister of Bangladesh is scheduled to embark on an important official visit to the United States later this month. According to the briefing held on September 13 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka, the Prime Minister will depart for the US on September 21 to participate in the upcoming high-level sessions of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

During this high-profile diplomatic visit, which extends until September 26, the Prime Minister is set to address the international community. State Minister Humayun Kabir stated that the Prime Minister will present Bangladesh's new vision and priorities on the global stage, utilizing the prominent platform of the United Nations to articulate the nation's contemporary foreign policy goals and developmental aspirations.

In addition to addressing the UN General Assembly session, the Prime Minister's itinerary in New York features a robust schedule of diplomatic engagements. State Minister Kabir confirmed that multiple bilateral meetings and sideline discussions have been planned for the duration of the visit. Among these crucial diplomatic interactions, a dedicated meeting addressing the pressing Rohingya crisis is firmly on the agenda.

Addressing inquiries regarding potential high-level encounters, the State Minister specifically referenced Donald Trump. According to Kabir, Donald Trump has expressed a desire to meet with the Prime Minister during the visit. The Foreign Ministry assured that transparency will be maintained regarding all scheduled engagements, noting that whenever and with whomever official meetings take place, the media and the public will be duly informed.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the upcoming tour to New York represents a significant opportunity for Bangladesh to reinforce its international partnerships and advocate for vital humanitarian and geopolitical issues. As preparations continue in Dhaka and New York, the government maintains that all official updates concerning the Prime Minister's bilateral itinerary will be shared openly without any secrecy.
