Bangladesh Met Office Issues Weather Forecast and River Port Warnings

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a comprehensive weather forecast alongside maritime warnings for several regions across the country, according to an update provided on August 15. The official forecast specifically details expected meteorological conditions and wind patterns for Dhaka and its surrounding areas, highlighting potential rainfall and cloud cover.

Focusing on the capital and its adjacent areas, the forecast issued for a six-hour period starting from 7:00 AM on Saturday indicates that the sky may remain temporarily cloudy to generally cloudy. Furthermore, meteorologists have stated that there is a distinct possibility of rain and thunder showers occurring within this specified timeframe for the Dhaka region.

In terms of specific atmospheric statistics and weather measurements recorded for Dhaka and its neighboring areas, winds are currently blowing at a speed of 10 to 15 kilometers. The morning temperature in Dhaka was recorded at 27.8 degrees Celsius, accompanied by a relative humidity level of 87 percent. Yesterday's maximum temperature reached 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature recorded was 27.5 degrees Celsius, alongside a measured rainfall of 1 millimeter over the past 24 hours.

Beyond the capital, the meteorological advisory extends to multiple coastal and inland regions. River ports situated in the areas of Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chattogram, and Cox's Bazar have been officially advised to hoist local caution number 1 warning signals.

This advisory for the designated river port areas comes in anticipation of adverse weather conditions, as temporary gusty or squally winds with speeds ranging between 45 to 60 kilometers per hour are expected to sweep over these specific regions. Watercraft operating in these areas are advised to remain cautious in light of the meteorological warnings.
