Bangladesh Jewellers Association Raises Gold and Silver Prices
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association has announced an increase in gold and silver prices across the domestic market. The new rates officially went into effect on Saturday morning.

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has officially announced an increase in the prices of both gold and silver within the domestic market of Bangladesh. According to the official notification issued by the organization, the adjustment applies to various grades of precious metals as local market conditions have shifted. Specifically, the price of gold has increased by 5,482 taka per bhori, while the price of silver has risen by 176 taka per bhori.
This upward revision in local pricing was necessitated because the price of pure gold, also known as tezabi gold, has increased significantly, prompting the association to adjust rates accordingly. The newly announced price adjustments took effect immediately on Saturday morning starting at 10:00 AM, impacting all subsequent retail transactions across jewelry stores throughout the country.
Following this recent price hike, the cost for the highest quality, best-grade gold has reached 2,46,110 taka per bhori, inclusive of applicable value-added tax. For comparison, on the preceding Friday, the same high-quality gold was being bought and sold in the domestic market at a lower rate of 2,40,628 taka per bhori.
A detailed breakdown of the newly implemented rates across different categories reveals that 22-carat gold is now priced at 2,46,110 taka per bhori. Meanwhile, 21-carat gold has been set at 2,35,030 taka per bhori, 18-carat gold is priced at 2,01,846 taka per bhori, and traditional method gold has reached 1,64,812 taka per bhori.
In addition to gold, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association has also raised the prices for silver across the various traditional categories. Under the new schedule, 22-carat silver is priced at 5,482 taka per bhori, 21-carat silver stands at 5,249 taka per bhori, 18-carat silver is marked at 4,491 taka per bhori, and traditional method silver is set at 3,383 taka per bhori.
These domestic adjustments correspond with broader global trends tracked by Goldprice.org, which notes that the international market price for gold currently stands at 4,490 US dollars per ounce. The notification regarding these comprehensive price changes was officially released by Bajus on August 22, affecting consumers and merchants alike.
