The meteorological department of Bangladesh has issued formal warning signals for inland riverports across various regions of the country. According to the official weather update released on August 16, authorities have instructed relevant port areas to hoist local cautionary signal number one as weather conditions turn volatile.

Forecasters indicate that severe weather is expected to impact several specific regions between 3:00 PM and 1:00 PM on Sunday. During this timeframe, temporary squalls and gusty winds blowing at speeds ranging from 45 to 60 kilometers per hour are projected to sweep across the affected localities, posing potential risks to small watercraft navigating inland river routes.

The current meteorological turbulence is attributed to broader shifts in atmospheric pressure systems across the region. A previously active low-pressure area that was positioned over southeast Jharkhand and its adjoining areas has progressively weakened and ultimately merged with the axis of the monsoon trough.

Simultaneously, weather monitors have detected the formation of a fresh low-pressure system over the northwest Bay of Bengal and its adjacent coastal regions. This newly developed system is actively influencing regional weather patterns, bringing persistent rainfall forecasts to widespread areas across the nation.

In terms of geographical impact, the ongoing weather advisory encompasses a broad swath of the country. The designated regions facing these warnings include Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Cumilla, Noakhali, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Dhaka, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet.

As these continuous weather systems bring widespread rainfall and stormy conditions, forecasters anticipate a noticeable shift in daily temperatures. Meteorological projections indicate that daytime and nighttime temperatures across the country may decrease by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius as the precipitation continues to unfold.
