Bangladesh Directorate of Primary Education Announces New Scholarship Rates
Bangladesh has introduced a new scholarship policy for primary education set to take effect from January 1, 2026. Under the new rules, selected students will receive monthly financial stipends directly through the G2P banking system.
The Directorate of Primary Education in Bangladesh has issued a formal notification detailing the implementation of new rules for awarding primary education scholarships and determining stipend rates. The directive outlines a comprehensive framework for both talent pool and general scholarships, marking a significant development in the country's primary education sector as administrative authorities restructure financial support mechanisms for young learners across the nation.
According to the newly established regulations, students selected for the prestigious talent pool scholarships will receive a monthly allowance of 300 taka. Concurrently, students qualifying for general scholarships will be awarded a monthly stipend of 225 taka. In addition to these monthly payments, the policy dictates that scholarship recipients in both categories will receive a once-a-year lump sum payment of 225 taka to support their educational expenses.
The financial assistance provided through these scholarships will be disbursed directly to the bank accounts of the student recipients. To ensure efficiency and transparency, the distribution will be executed utilizing the government-to-person, or G2P, electronic payment method, minimizing administrative delays and ensuring that the funds reach the intended beneficiaries without intermediaries.
The newly announced scholarship program is scheduled to remain in effect for a duration of three years. Implementation of these updated provisions and payment structures is officially slated to begin on January 1, 2026, establishing a clear timeline for schools and educational administrators to prepare for the upcoming transition.
The official notification regarding these policy updates and stipend rates bears the signature of Shahina Ferdousi, the Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education.
