Bangladesh Brings Forward Class Start and Admission Dates for Grade 11
Bangladesh has announced the revised schedule for higher secondary admissions following the release of SSC results. Online applications will run from September 2 to September 10, with classes proposed to begin on September 23.
Authorities in Bangladesh have officially brought forward the online application process and the commencement of classes for the eleventh-grade academic session. According to the updated schedule, the online application process for admission into higher secondary institutions is scheduled to begin on September 2 and will continue through September 10. Following the completion of the admission procedures, authorities have proposed that academic classes officially commence on September 23 across the country.
The Ministry of Education and related educational authorities confirmed that the admissions for the upcoming academic year will strictly follow the established tradition of relying on results from the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations. Similar to previous years, there will be no separate written admission tests conducted for prospective students, ensuring that placements are determined entirely by their previous public examination scores.
The Dhaka Education Board manages this central online admission process for eleventh-grade students with technical assistance provided by the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). This centralized digital framework handles the vast volume of student preferences and college assignments across the country's various educational boards.
The announcement of the revised admission and class schedules follows the publication of the SSC and equivalent examination results, which officially took place on August 10. Data from the eleven education boards reveals that a total of 1,829,485 candidates participated in these recent examinations, out of which 1,138,877 students successfully passed.
Across the entire country, including both colleges and madrasas, there are approximately 2.5 million available seats eligible for eleventh-grade admissions, comfortably accommodating the successful candidates. Regarding academic excellence, the eleven education boards recorded more than 116,000 students achieving a GPA-5, with the nine general education boards alone accounting for 106,009 of those top-tier grades.
Meanwhile, the board also processed a massive volume of re-scrutiny applications following the initial result publication. More than 400,000 examinees submitted nearly 1.3 million applications to review their results. This total breakdown includes over 1,056,000 applications specifically requested for written theoretical answer scripts, alongside 231,000 applications submitted for practical examination answer scripts.
