The government of Bangladesh has officially appointed the contracting firm M/s MA Hashem & Sons to handle cargo operations at the Bhorat land port. This significant logistical and operational development was formally approved on September 2, 2026, during a high-level administrative meeting held at the Secretariat in Dhaka, marking a key step in port management infrastructure.

According to the official administrative decisions, the total financial value approved for appointing M/s MA Hashem & Sons as the designated contractor for the manual cargo handling operations stands at 20 crore 30 lakh 52 thousand 609 taka. This substantial public procurement expenditure was meticulously reviewed and sanctioned to ensure the smooth handling of goods entering and exiting the designated border trade hub.

The formal approval for this substantial contracting agreement was granted during a strategic session of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase. The crucial decision-making body convened specifically to evaluate and clear major state expenditures and service provider appointments for critical national trade and transport infrastructure projects.

Presiding over the high-profile government meeting at the Secretariat was Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury. As the head of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase, he oversaw the proceedings that successfully cleared the proposal regarding the operational management of the Bhorat land port's cargo handling services.

The execution of this manual cargo handling contract will involve relevant state bodies, including the Bangladesh Land Port Authority and the Ministry of Shipping, working alongside the newly appointed private contractor. Together, these entities will coordinate the implementation of the approved logistics agreement to facilitate trade operations at the port facility under the newly sanctioned financial framework.
