Bangladesh Announces Class 11 Admission Policy and Schedule for 2026-27

The Ministry of Education in Bangladesh has officially released the admission policy and detailed schedule for students entering the eleventh grade for the upcoming 2026-27 academic year. The announcement provides crucial timelines and structural guidelines for thousands of students preparing to transition to higher secondary education across the country, involving multiple educational boards including the Secondary and Higher Education Division, the Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board, the Technical Education Board, the Bangladesh Open University, and the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.

According to the newly announced schedule, the formal acceptance of applications for class 11 admissions will officially begin on September 2, 2026. Prospective students will have a designated window to submit their applications, which will conclude on September 10 at 8:00 PM. Education authorities have stipulated that there will be no preliminary screening or formal admission test required for students seeking admission into the eleventh grade for this academic term.

The policy outlines a clear framework for seat allocation across colleges, ensuring both merit-based access and specific reservations. A significant majority, specifically 93 percent of the total available seats in colleges, will remain completely open and allocated strictly on the basis of individual student merit. Meanwhile, a total of 7 percent of the seats have been strictly designated and set aside under specific quota provisions.

Breaking down the reserved allocations, the 7 percent quota system includes a 5 percent reservation specifically for the sons and daughters of freedom fighters and martyred freedom fighters. Additionally, another 2 percent is allocated for the children of officials and employees working within the Ministry of Education and its subordinate offices and agencies, which includes a 1 percentage portion specifically designated for the children of officials or employees of departments or agencies under the ministry.

Following the conclusion of the application window, the results identifying the selected students will be officially published on September 17 at 8:00 PM. The educational authorities have further confirmed that this specific quota system and the outlined distribution framework will be exclusively applicable and legally binding for the 2026-27 academic session only.

Finally, the administrative schedule concludes with the official commencement of academic activities for the new cohort. Regular classes for the eleventh-grade students are scheduled to officially begin across the country on September 23, 2026, marking the full integration of the new students into the higher secondary education system.
