Bangladesh and China have officially discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation between their respective law enforcement agencies during a high-level diplomatic and police meeting held on Sunday, 23 August 2026. The discussions took place at the headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Bangladesh, marking a significant step in ongoing diplomatic and security engagements between the two nations.

During the official meeting at the CID Headquarters, the chief of the organization, Additional Inspector General of Police Barrister Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain, warmly welcomed the visiting delegation from the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh. The encounter served as a courtesy call aimed at fostering closer ties and operational alignment between Bangladeshi and Chinese authorities in the realm of public safety and criminal justice.

The high-profile Chinese Embassy delegation featured key diplomatic personnel representing various critical portfolios. The visiting representatives included Second Secretary Zhao Yi, Third Secretary Zhou Jun, and Consular Officer Fatema Shimu, who all actively participated in the diplomatic discussions held at the domestic law enforcement agency's central headquarters.

A core focus of the extensive bilateral talks was the urgent need to boost mutual cooperation in preventing human trafficking across national borders. Both sides underscored the critical importance of collaborative efforts to dismantle international trafficking rings and protect vulnerable populations from exploitation through coordinated investigative strategies and intelligence sharing.

In addition to combating human trafficking, the discussions at the CID headquarters addressed several complex enforcement areas. The officials deliberated on strategies for improving the investigation of existing criminal cases, handling specific cases linked to Bangladesh Bank, and effectively countering sophisticated cyber-enabled crimes through the exchange of vital knowledge and advanced technology.
