Bangladesh Advances Procurement of Chinese-Made J-10C Fighter Jets

The Bangladesh government is moving forward with the official procurement process to acquire Chinese-made J-10C fighter jets to strengthen the operational capabilities of the Bangladesh Air Force. This strategic defense initiative marks a significant step in modernizing the country's military aviation fleet with advanced multirole combat aircraft.

A dedicated committee concerning the MRCA (J-10CE) and attack helicopters has actively advanced this defense initiative through a series of formal negotiation meetings. Following these detailed discussions, the committee successfully prepared a comprehensive draft agreement for the proposed military acquisition.

To ensure proper administrative review and institutional clearance, the newly formulated draft agreement has already been officially dispatched to the Armed Forces Division and several other relevant government ministries for necessary approval.

Discussing the operational merits of the aircraft, Zahed Ur Rahman noted that the Chinese-made J-10 possesses recent real-world combat experience. Referencing past conflict scenarios between India and Pakistan where a French-origin Rafale was reportedly downed by a Chinese J-10, Zahed Ur Rahman stated that this information is now established, noting that the Chinese multirole fighter performed exceptionally well in actual combat situations alongside the Rafale, which is widely considered one of the most modern 4.5-generation fighters.

Emphasizing the financial advantages of the defense purchase, Zahed Ur Rahman further explained that when compared to similar-quality European variants such as the Rafale or the Eurofighter Typhoon, Chinese fighter jets are comparatively much lower in cost, expressing hope that the government will take all necessary measures to ensure the defense of the public.
