Bangladesh 2026 Holiday Schedule Clarifies Fatiha-e-Yazdaham and Madhu Purnima

The scheduling of religious holidays for educational and government institutions in Bangladesh has been clarified for September 2026, outlining specific dates and operational rules. According to the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Public Administration, September 23, 2026, has been designated as a holiday specifically for educational institutions to observe the holy occasion of Fatiha-e-Yazdaham.

However, despite the closure of educational facilities, this observance is not included on the official government holiday list. Consequently, all government, semi-government, autonomous, and private institutions across the country will maintain their normal operational activities and remain open on September 23, proceeding with their regular daily schedules without interruption.

Following the one-day observance for educational institutions, normal academic routines will resume promptly. Teachers, students, and staff members are required to return to their regular classes and official workplaces starting from September 24, 2026, ensuring that educational activities pick up right where they left off after the holiday.

Later in the week, the calendar brings another significant religious observance alongside the standard weekend break. September 25 and September 26 will follow the routine schedule as weekly holidays, providing the standard weekend rest period for workers and students alike across the nation.

Additionally, the holy occasion of Shubho Madhu Purnima falls on September 26, 2026. Because this sacred day naturally coincides with the already scheduled weekly holiday, authorities confirmed that no separate or additional holiday days will be added to the calendar to compensate for the overlap.
