Asha University Bangladesh officially hosted its Freshers' Reception 2026 on August 29, 2026, welcoming new students to the institution. The celebratory academic event took place at Asha Tower, located in Shyamoli, Dhaka, bringing together university faculty, administrative leaders, and students for the special occasion.

The high-profile ceremony featured several notable figures from the academic and governmental sectors. Abdul Khaleque, Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education, honored the gathering by attending as the chief guest, highlighting the government's engagement with higher education institutions.

The presidential responsibilities for the event were carried out by Professor S M Rezaul Karim, the Vice-Chancellor of Asha University Bangladesh. Alongside the Vice-Chancellor and the chief guest, the programme was attended by several other key individuals, including Professor Mohammad Faruk, Md. Zafar Siddique, Professor A K M Helal Uz Zaman, Mohammad Kausar, and Tahmina Ali Bonya.

Addressing the newly admitted students and attendees, chief guest Abdul Khaleque detailed the current administration's broader vision for the nation's academic framework. He stated that the present government is actively working with a strong emphasis on modernizing the country's education system, expanding opportunities for higher education, promoting technology-dependent learning, and building a skilled human resource base.

Elaborating on structural reforms within the sector, Khaleque noted that the government had planned and successfully implemented changes to the education curriculum. With the assistance of curricular experts from various universities, the government is currently moving forward to print nearly 32 crore books. He emphasized that in order to keep pace with a changing world, students must acquire modern knowledge, technological proficiency, creativity, and moral values, while noting that Asha University is progressing commendably in education and research.

In addition to higher education developments, Khaleque announced an upcoming nationwide youth sports initiative. He stated that authorities are preparing to inaugurate a secondary school football tournament involving approximately 40 lakh secondary-level students, which is scheduled to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister.
