Last Thursday, the 36th Ig Nobel Prize ceremony took place in Zurich, Switzerland, gathering researchers and science enthusiasts from around the world to celebrate unconventional achievements. Established in 1991, the Ig Nobel awards serve as a playful parody of the prestigious Nobel Prizes, highlighting scientific studies that first make people laugh and then make them think.

During the ceremony, numerous researchers and teams were recognized across various unique categories for their peculiar investigations. Among the honorees were the researchers behind a study determining the precise biological and physical definition of a kiss, which earned top honors in the biomechanics department.

In the economics category, researchers who explored human behavior and resource distribution received recognition for their findings regarding children and confectionery. Their awarded theory demonstrated that wealthier individuals are more likely to take chocolate away from children compared to others.

The chemistry category featured another remarkable discovery regarding insect biology and nutrition. Researchers were honored for investigating the properties of cockroach milk, specifically uncovering that the protein found in live-bearing cockroach milk contains three times more energy than standard cow's milk protein.

Organized by Improbable Research and The Annals of Improbable Research, the event also featured remarks from founder Marc Abrahams. He addressed the audience regarding travel challenges, stating that over the past year, it has become unsafe for their guests to travel to the United States.
