Yash's Toxic Faces Digital Rights Deadlock and Potential Rs 1.2 Billion Loss

Kannada cinema star actor Yash is currently facing significant complications regarding the digital rights sale of his highly anticipated movie 'Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups'. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the high-profile project has captured widespread attention in India and within the entertainment industry. The film boasts a massive budget of 500 crore rupees and is jointly produced by Venkat K. Narayana and lead actor Yash himself, who portrays the central character named Raya.

Alongside Yash, the movie features a star-studded ensemble cast in various other important roles, including Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Rukmini Vasanth, and Huma Qureshi. Despite the immense star power and substantial financial investment behind the production, the current deadlock over streaming agreements has created uncertainty. According to details shared with Bollywood Hungama, a leading OTT platform had initially offered 150 crore rupees to the film's creators for its digital rights.

However, the makers reportedly held out for a much higher figure, demanding over 200 crore rupees instead. Sources revealed that actor Yash was extremely confident that the movie would turn out to be a blockbuster success at the box office. He firmly believed that such theatrical triumph would significantly drive up the post-theatrical value of the film's digital streaming rights, leading to expectations that they could easily secure a deal exceeding 200 crore rupees.

Unfortunately for the production team, the reality on the ground turned out to be completely different from their initial optimistic projections. This miscalculation has now resulted in a potential loss amounting to 120 crore rupees, which translates to approximately 156 crore taka. Other significant figures circulating in industry discussions regarding the project's financial landscape include 30 crore rupees and 337.80 crore rupees.

With the digital rights negotiations currently stalled, stakeholders are actively seeking ways to resolve the mounting financial crisis. Sources close to the development have indicated that discussions are underway to figure out how the losses can be minimized. Among the potential solutions currently being considered is editing the entire movie specifically to create a brand-new, customized version tailored for OTT release platforms like ZEE5.
