Speaking on the broadcast, President Trump stated that if Oman creates any obstacles regarding the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, the United States would bomb them to pieces. The American leader added that while he did not like Oman's behavior, they could easily be handled just like everything else.
The provocative comments immediately drew sharp criticism and alarm from members of the US Congress, who are now moving to restrict the executive branch's military authority. Representative Ro Khanna voiced profound concern over the escalation, noting the absurdity of the diplomatic fallout by stating that the current situation may require filing war powers resolutions for the remaining 192 countries in the world.
Adding to the legislative momentum, Senator Tim Kaine announced his intention to take formal action in the Senate next month.
