The United States government has officially initiated the release of hundreds of secret UFO and UAP files dating back to 1950. This massive disclosure effort is being conducted under the PURSUE project, which officially commenced operations in January 2026. The release includes a notable batch of documents made public on August 7, 2025, contributing to the ongoing official discussion and reporting surrounding unidentified aerial phenomena across the nation.
Alongside the historical document releases, recent statistical data regarding Unidentified Aerial Phenomena has been made public through official government channels. According to official reports from the United States government, the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office, known as AARO, received a total of 319 separate UAP incident reports throughout the year 2025.
Out of the 319 reported UAP incidents documented by AARO in 2025, authorities have successfully managed to resolve the mystery behind 114 of those occurrences. However, a significant number of sightings and encounters continue to remain unexplained as investigations and official evaluations by organizations such as AARO and NASA persist.
Public reporting networks and civilian organizations also continue to track an exceptionally high volume of anomalous sightings. For instance, the National UFO Reporting Center, or NUFORC, has received more than 1,800 reports from observers just this year. This builds upon historical high points, such as the year 2020, when submissions to NUFORC famously touched the 8,000-report mark.
