Uncertainty Surrounds India-Bangladesh Cricket Series as Boards Discuss New Dates

Uncertainty has arisen regarding the bilateral cricket series between Bangladesh and India, which was originally scheduled to take place during the months of August and September. According to the confirmed facts surrounding the tour, the fixture was slated to feature a total of three One Day Internationals alongside three Twenty20 Internationals.

However, under the current scheduling arrangements, the opportunity for the series to proceed as originally planned is virtually non-existent. Despite these logistical hurdles, the Bangladesh Cricket Board and the Board of Control for Cricket in India are continuing to engage in discussions to find a viable alternative window for the fixtures.

Addressing the ongoing speculation, Tamim Iqbal stated that a final decision confirming the cancellation of the series has not been made yet. Providing further insight into the discussions, Iqbal offered a specific update regarding the mindset of the governing bodies involved in the planning process.

"I will give you a small piece of information. Both boards are very sincere about implementing this matter. Both parties, the BCCI and the BCB, are looking for a new time, when and how it can be done. Roughly a time is also being thought of, whether it is possible to organize it then. If we saw the intention was negative, then today I wouldn't even have told you, 'Let's see what happens, we are optimistic.' I wouldn't have said this either. The intention is very positive," Iqbal explained.

Iqbal also acknowledged the external factors influencing the scheduling process, noting that both national teams face packed international calendars. "There are some things that are beyond our control. And as BCB president, I never want to cross that limit. But the intention is good and we are in regular contact. Discussions are also underway regarding the dates. Bangladesh is also busy, India is also busy. Bangladesh has three series in between. India and the BCCI are also very busy with their own matches. But we are having regular discussions about this," he added.
