Tropical Storm Moke Approaches Hawaii's Big Island

Hawaii is currently facing a brand-new natural disaster in the form of Tropical Storm Moke, which is now actively approaching the Big Island in the United States. This severe weather development comes shortly after the region had to deal with the extensive devastation left behind by Hurricane Lala.

According to updates provided by the National Hurricane Center and the National Weather Service in Honolulu, Tropical Storm Moke was located approximately 425 miles (680 kilometers) southeast of Hilo on Friday. The storm system was moving in a west-northwest direction at a speed of 12 miles (19 kilometers) per hour.

Meteorologists tracking the system reported that Tropical Storm Moke is currently carrying maximum sustained winds of about 50 miles (85 kilometers) per hour. Officials and forecasters are closely monitoring the trajectory of the storm as it continues its steady movement toward the Hawaiian islands.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Lala, recovery efforts have been severely hampered by lingering infrastructural failures.
