Sirajganj Businesses Fined 7,000 Taka for Overpricing Eggs
Consumer rights authorities in Sirajganj fined two egg traders a total of 7,000 taka on September 15, 2026, for selling eggs above government-mandated prices. The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection conducted the inspection in the Shialkol union area.

In a recent market enforcement drive conducted on September 15, 2026, the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection cracked down on businesses violating government regulations regarding essential commodity prices in Sirajganj district. The operation specifically targeted establishments within the Bildholi and Shilanda areas under the Shialkol union of Sirajganj Sadar upazila, where traders were found selling eggs at rates exceeding the officially fixed government prices.
During the course of the inspection, authorities penalized two distinct business establishments for failing to comply with the pricing directives. The total fines levied across these establishments amounted to 7,000 taka, highlighting the government's ongoing efforts to curb excessive profiteering and stabilize the local market for everyday consumer goods.
Specifically, the management of Messers Lokman Poultry Feed faced strict financial penalties during the operation. Roky, who serves as the manager of Messers Lokman Poultry Feed, was handed a fine of 5,000 taka for his establishment's role in the overpricing violation.
In a similar enforcement action within the same operational area, the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection also penalized another local trading house. Vashan Sheikh, acting as the manager of Messers Helal Uddin Egg Arat, was ordered to pay a fine of 2,000 taka for exceeding the government-mandated price limits on eggs.
The successful execution of this market monitoring drive underscores the active role being played by regulatory bodies in protecting consumer interests. By targeting specific violators such as Messers Lokman Poultry Feed and Messers Helal Uddin Egg Arat, authorities aim to send a strong deterrent message to other traders operating within Sirajganj and surrounding regions.
