A special science lecture focusing on human evolution and ancient species is scheduled to take place next month in the southern city of Barishal. The upcoming event is titled 'From Neanderthal to Homo sapiens: The Story of Survival' and aims to explore the deep history of human ancestry and extinction.

The venue for this educational gathering is the creative bookstore Banalata Book Cafe, located in Barishal city. The lecture is officially set to be held on the 4th of September, drawing interest from local science enthusiasts, readers, and students eager to learn more about prehistory.

Asif, a well-known science speaker and author, will serve as the keynote speaker for the lecture. He will present detailed insights into how ancient human relatives lived across vast regions and how modern humans ultimately came to share a biological connection with them through history.

Historical and scientific context provided for the lecture notes that Neanderthals inhabited extensive areas across Europe and Western Asia for a remarkable duration of approximately four hundred thousand years. Despite their long-standing presence in those regions, these ancient hominids eventually vanished from the Earth roughly forty thousand years ago.

Modern genetic research also reveals fascinating links between ancient species and humans living today. According to the scientific background of the lecture, the DNA of most modern human populations living outside of Africa contains between one and two percent of Neanderthal genes, serving as a lasting genetic legacy of our ancient ancestors.

The upcoming programme in Barishal is supported by several organizing bodies, including Cosmic Culture, Banalata Book Cafe, Mahabritta, Discussion Project, and Chandradweep dot com. Organizers have set the registration fee at 250 taka for attendees wishing to participate in the scientific discourse.
