Russia to Suspend Natural Gas Supplies to Armenia for Pipeline Repairs

Natural gas supplies from the Russian Federation to the Republic of Armenia are scheduled to be temporarily halted later this month, according to official announcements confirmed in Moscow and Yerevan. The temporary suspension of energy deliveries is slated to affect consumers for a duration of 11 days, beginning on September 15 and extending through September 25, 2026.

According to detailed information provided regarding the infrastructure disruption, the temporary halt in natural gas delivery is necessitated by a comprehensive set of scheduled preventive and repair works. These engineering operations are officially designated to take place directly on the North Caucasus-Transcaucasia main gas pipeline located on the sovereign territory of the Russian Federation.

Elaborating on the technical stoppage, the Gazprom subsidiary operating in Armenia issued a formal statement explaining the operational necessity behind the energy pause. The corporate representative stated that "due to a set of scheduled preventive and repair works on the North Caucasus-Transcaucasia main gas pipeline on the territory of the Russian Federation, natural gas supplies to Armenia through the aforementioned pipeline will be temporarily suspended from Sept. 15 to 25."

To mitigate potential energy shortages and maintain regional stability during the crucial 11-day maintenance window, contingency measures have been successfully arranged by energy authorities. The corporate subsidiary further assured the public that adequate alternative resources have been secured to cover the entirety of the operational downtime without impacting local populations or commercial enterprises.

Addressing the continuity of regional heating and fuel needs, the Gazprom subsidiary in Armenia explicitly promised that "during this period, uninterrupted and reliable gas supplies to consumers in the republic will be provided without restrictions through domestic reserves and additional volumes of natural gas supplied from Iran."
