A 67-year-old woman in Colombia has built a thriving business selling neighborhood gossip and personal secrets. She has used the earnings from her unusual enterprise to purchase two houses.

A 67-year-old woman living in Colombia has turned the collection and sale of neighborhood gossip into a remarkably lucrative enterprise. Identified only by her first name, Miriam, she has successfully utilized the proceeds from her unusual business venture to purchase two houses.
Miriam is a resident of the city of Armenia, which is situated within the Quindío Department of Colombia. Rather than relying on traditional employment, she has capitalized on the everyday secrets and private information circulating among her local community members.
Operating as a purveyor of confidential news, Miriam maintains a constant vigilance regarding the activities of those around her. Describing her attentive approach to gathering information, she noted that she might appear to be engaged in a normal conversation while simultaneously keeping her ears alert to surrounding discussions and actions.
Elaborating on her methods, Miriam explained her daily state of awareness in her own words: "আমি হয়তো আপনার সঙ্গে স্বাভাবিকভাবে কথা বলছি, কিন্তু আমার দুটো কান ঠিকই সতর্ক থাকে পাশে মানুষজন কী বলছে-করছে তা শোনার জন্য।"
The trade in private matters has proven to be quite profitable for the Colombian resident. On one notable occasion, Miriam managed to earn a maximum of 700,000 Colombian pesos simply by keeping silent and agreeing to withhold information about a man's extramarital affair.
Through these various transactions involving neighborhood secrets and personal discretion, Miriam has accumulated enough capital to secure real estate property, ultimately resulting in the ownership of two separate houses in her home region of Armenia, Quindío Department.
