Rooppur Power Plant Transmission Data Linked to National Grid
An agreement has been signed to integrate the transmission system and substation data of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant into the national grid's load dispatch center. This development comes as post-fuel loading testing activities are currently underway at the plant's first unit.
A formal agreement has been officially signed to connect the power transmission system and substations of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant with the national grid's advanced control infrastructure. Under the terms of this new accord, the critical infrastructure data from the facility will be integrated directly into the National Load Despatch Centre (NLDC) SCADA and EMS systems. This strategic integration covers both the Unit-1 and Unit-2 power transmission systems, ensuring comprehensive digital oversight of the nuclear facility's electrical output.
Specifically, the technical scope of the agreement encompasses eight distinct transmission lines originating from the two operational units at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant. In addition to these transmission lines, all crucial signals and operational data from both the 400 kV and 230 kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) substations will be systematically linked to the national grid's central monitoring and management framework. This ensures that the primary energy distribution pathways and high-voltage substation networks are fully visible to national grid operators.
The execution of this significant connectivity agreement marks an important operational milestone for Bangladesh's pioneering nuclear energy infrastructure. By establishing a direct data bridge between the Rooppur facility and the NLDC SCADA/EMS systems, system operators will gain real-time visibility over the high-voltage electricity generation and transmission pathways.
