Pony.ai and Uber Partner to Deploy 2,000 Robotaxis Across Europe

Chinese autonomous vehicle manufacturer Pony.ai and ride-hailing giant Uber have announced ambitious plans to bring a total of 2,000 robotaxis to four distinct cities located across Europe. This major deployment represents a significant expansion of the ongoing business partnership between the two technology and transportation firms, signaling a concerted push into the European automated mobility market.

Under the terms of the newly expanded agreement, the two companies will divide operational responsibilities based on their respective areas of core expertise. Pony.ai is slated to supply the advanced autonomous vehicle technology required to power the fleet, while Uber will leverage its globally established ride-hailing platform to connect passengers with the self-driving vehicles.

This European rollout marks the next phase in a commercial relationship that officially began in May 2025. When the two companies first joined forces, their initial collaborative focus was centered specifically on the Middle East, before evolving into the current broader international strategy that now encompasses the European continent.

The latest venture with Pony.ai fits into a much broader, long-term strategic approach by the ride-hailing giant regarding autonomous driving technology. Over the past several years, Uber has actively partnered with more than 30 different autonomous vehicle companies to integrate self-driving options into its existing transportation network.
