Niharika NM Recounts Early Career Struggles and Bollywood Debut

Digital content creator and actress Niharika NM has shared a bitter early career experience regarding the realities of the film industry, recounting how she previously walked away from a Bollywood film project. The situation arose after she firmly refused to shoot an intimate scene, a decision that stemmed from her personal boundaries regarding on-screen performances. Elaborating on her stance during recent discussions, the actress noted that she does not feel comfortable performing intimate scenes on screen and experiences a high level of discomfort with such material. The complication deepened when the male lead actor declined to use a body double for the required sequence, leading Niharika to ultimately step away from the production entirely.

Reflecting on that difficult period in Mumbai, India, Niharika admitted that missing out on projects carried a heavy emotional toll at the time. She explained that she could not participate due to the binding nature of agreements, and later, when she saw that the films she had walked away from turned out to be tremendously successful, she felt very bad about the outcomes. Despite these early setbacks and feelings of doubt, she maintained her resolve, noting that she felt the environment was simply not a place where she should be competing under those circumstances.

Niharika's career trajectory eventually shifted as she persevered through the industry challenges and pursued diverse opportunities. She explained that once her contractual obligations and the expiration of her training terms concluded, no one could hold her back any longer. Following that period, she expanded her portfolio by working across various language films, a persistent journey that ultimately brought her to where she stands today in the entertainment industry.

That foundational persistence has now culminated in a major career milestone with her official Bollywood debut. Niharika made her Hindi film debut starring in 'Bhai Tera Star Hai', where she appeared opposite co-star Raghav Juyal. This breakthrough role marks a significant step forward in her acting career following her transition from digital content creation into mainstream cinema.

Before securing her current cinematic roles, Niharika built a diverse professional resume spanning multiple regions and mediums. In Mumbai, she previously signed a three-year training contract with filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj's production house, Stone Bench Films. Furthermore, her international and cross-industry presence includes voicing a guest role in the seventh season of the United States animated sitcom 'Big Mouth' in 2023, alongside her acting work in various South Indian film projects such as 'Perusu', 'Mitra Mandali', and 'Idhayam Murali'.
