New Study in Dhaka Reveals High Rates of FOMO Among University Students
A recent 2026 study conducted in Dhaka has revealed that over 65 percent of surveyed university students experience 'Fear of Missing Out' (FOMO) linked to social media trends. The research highlights varying degrees of this psychological pressure among young adults in the capital.

A comprehensive research initiative focusing on social media trends and the psychological phenomenon known as 'FOMO' (Fear of Missing Out) has been officially released in Dhaka. The study, which was conducted in the year 2026, specifically targeted university students studying within the capital city to understand the modern digital pressures they face in their daily lives.
According to the detailed findings of the research, a total of 500 university students were surveyed to gather accurate data regarding their social media habits and emotional responses. The statistical outcome of this extensive survey revealed that an overwhelming 65.6 percent of the participating students suffer from some form of 'FOMO' or the lingering fear of being left behind by ongoing digital trends.
Breaking down the data further, the study provides a clearer picture of the severity levels experienced by the student population in Dhaka. Specifically, 56.8 percent of the total surveyed students were found to be experiencing a medium level of FOMO, indicating a widespread and moderate psychological impact from their digital engagement.
In addition to the moderate cases, the research identified a more vulnerable segment within the student body. The findings show that 8.8 percent of the participants are suffering from high levels of FOMO, demonstrating an intense and potentially concerning attachment to social media trends and peer activities.
The release of these statistics sheds light on the growing psychological challenges confronting university students in Dhaka amid the rapid expansion of social media culture. Researchers and observers note that these insights into student behavior provide a foundational look at how digital connectivity influences the mental well-being of young adults in Bangladesh today.
