New Delhi Addresses Ganga Treaty and Bangladesh Bilateral Agreements

Addressing reporters in the Indian capital, Ministry spokesperson রণধীর জয়সোয়াল emphasized the established diplomatic and technical mechanisms available to manage shared resources between New Delhi and Dhaka. He explicitly noted that both nations maintain the Joint Rivers Commission, commonly referred to as জেআরসি, as a dedicated bilateral framework specifically designed to address Ganga water-sharing alongside all other water-related issues and concerns.

Expanding on the technical cooperation between the two countries, the Ministry spokesperson confirmed that bilateral discussions regarding water management will persist through established channels. He stated that technical-level meetings concerning these crucial water resources will continue uninterrupted, ensuring ongoing dialogue between Indian and Bangladeshi experts and officials.

The New Delhi briefing also touched upon broader bilateral cooperation following recent political developments in Bangladesh. National Parliament Chief Whip নূরুল ইসলাম মনি recently announced that the administration intends to thoroughly review more than one hundred memorandums of understanding and formal agreements that were previously concluded with India during the tenure of the ousted Awami League government.

When questioned by journalists regarding the parliamentary review announced by the Bangladesh National Parliament official, the Ministry spokesperson responded directly to the media reports. He confirmed that Indian authorities have also observed these developments through media reports, while clarifying that no formal communication has been officially transmitted to New Delhi regarding the matter thus far.
