Nayanthara first entered the entertainment industry through modelling, participating in a cover photoshoot for the publication Vanitha Magazine. During this early phase of her professional career, her reported earnings for her work amounted to approximately 2,000 to 3,000 rupees.

Her transition from modelling to acting on the big screen occurred in 2003 with her debut in the Malayalam film 'Manassinakkare', directed by Sathyan Anthikad. This initial role established her presence in the regional film industry and laid the groundwork for her subsequent expansion into other major Indian film markets.

Following her success in Malayalam cinema, she made her entry into Tamil films in 2005 with the release of the movie 'Ayya'. Alongside her career progression in South Indian cinema, she worked with various prominent personalities in the film industry, including Pearle Maaney, Rajinikanth, Atlee, Shah Rukh Khan, Kavin, and Vishnu Edavan.

Two decades after her initial film appearance, she achieved a significant milestone in her career by making her Bollywood debut. In 2023, she starred in the Hindi-language feature film 'Jawan', further broadening her cinematic footprint across India.

Recently, details regarding the foundational stages of her career and her extensive filmography were officially published in India. These accounts highlighted her steady progression from early magazine photoshoots and regional cinema to starring roles in major Bollywood productions.
