Na Bala Katha Art Exhibition Opens at Alliance Française de Dhaka

A nine-day group art exhibition titled 'Na Bala Katha' officially commenced on Tuesday, September 1, at La Galerie, located within the premises of the Alliance Française de Dhaka. This cultural event brings together a diverse collection of creative works that highlight personal narratives, inner thoughts, and memories through various artistic mediums including visual art, handmade books, and intricate crafts created by participating female artists.

The exhibition has been curated by Fareha Zeba, who provided detailed insight into the conceptual foundation and the collaborative creative process behind the showcase. Elaborating on the theme and the journey of the participants, the curator explained that everyone harbors unspoken thoughts and hidden feelings within their lives. These personal reflections often encompass lingering experiences of deprivation, oppression, grief, as well as discriminatory treatment encountered within individual lives, family environments, and the broader society.

According to the curator, the initial group of seven artists dedicated an entire year to expressing their personal emotions by constructing handmade books, drafting initial sketches, and incorporating various elements to articulate their stories. Following this extensive preparation, guest artists joined the creative journey, utilizing a shorter timeframe to explore this exact conceptual framework through their own distinct artistic languages and individual mediums.

The comprehensive exhibition provides a platform for numerous talented female artists to present their unique perspectives and reflections to the public. The participating artists whose works are currently on display at the Dhaka cultural center include Fareha Zeba, Esha Ahmed, Fauzia Mahin Chowdhury, Kazmin Samia, Sulekha Chowdhury, Sumona Akter, Surbhi Akter, Alia Kamal, Arpita Singha, Mahmuda Siddika, Rafia Mahjabin, Rituparna Saha, and Venisa Kaiser.

Art enthusiasts, cultural figures, and visitors are invited to experience the diverse collection during the nine-day exhibition period at the prominent gallery space in Dhaka. The showcase stands as a significant gathering celebrating contemporary artistic expression, personal storytelling, and the collaborative efforts of women in the national art scene.
