Microsoft Reassigns Copilot Voice Mascot Mico to Learn Live Hub
Microsoft is removing the Mico mascot from the voice section of its Copilot AI chatbot just one month after its October 2025 introduction. The character will now be reassigned to the Learn Live hub to serve as a tutor, according to the company.
Microsoft has announced a significant update regarding the Mico mascot, which was originally introduced in October 2025 specifically for voice conversations within its Copilot artificial intelligence chatbot. According to details reported by The Verge, the tech giant is now removing the character from the voice section of the platform.
Despite its departure from the voice feature, the mascot is not disappearing entirely from the company's ecosystem. Microsoft is reassigning Mico to a new location within the Learn Live hub, where the character will take on the role of a tutor for users engaging with educational content.
Addressing the transition, a Microsoft support page noted the valuable insights gained from the initial rollout of the character. "Mico helped us learn about warmth, expressiveness, and how people want to talk with AI. Those learnings are shaping Copilot going forward," the support page stated regarding the early phase of the mascot.
Explaining the rationale behind the new placement, the company highlighted the educational environment as a more fitting space for the animated character's ongoing development. "Learn is where the character has the most room to grow, with tutoring sessions that give Mico more to react to and teach through," the Microsoft support page explained.
Users engaging with the AI should note that the transition comes with specific operational changes regarding user preferences. Confirmed details show that Mico-specific settings from the voice section will not carry over to its new location within the Learn Live hub.
