Microsoft has announced significant changes to Xbox cloud gaming, scheduled to begin in November. The updates introduce monthly time limits for cloud gaming users across various subscription tiers, altering how players access streamed content through the platform.

Under the new system, Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will receive 15 hours of streaming per month. Meanwhile, Game Pass Premium members will be allocated 10 hours of streaming per month, and Game Pass Essential subscribers will receive five hours of streaming per month.

In addition to these tier-based limits for existing members, Microsoft is expanding access by allowing anyone to purchase additional cloud playtime hours directly through the Xbox Store. This move opens up cloud streaming capabilities to non-subscribers who wish to buy more time beyond their standard allotments.

The announcement comes alongside leadership updates at the company. Asha Sharma has been named the new CEO of Xbox, taking the helm as these notable structural changes to the platform's cloud gaming services are implemented.

As these new policies take effect in November, players and subscribers across all tiers will need to monitor their monthly usage against the newly established caps. The inclusion of purchasable hours ensures that individuals who exceed their initial limits can continue accessing the service through the Xbox Store.
