All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has made a dream debut in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) representing the Guyana Amazon Warriors against the St Lucia Kings in Providence. Miraz joined the Guyana franchise towards the conclusion of the tournament as a replacement for Afghanistan player Mohammad Nabi, who had to depart from the competition in order to play an upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan. Nabi had previously enjoyed a stellar run in the tournament, claiming thirteen wickets across seven matches for the side.

Stepping into the squad to fill those big shoes, Miraz immediately made his presence felt on the field during his very first appearance. Playing at Providence, the debutant put on a stellar bowling performance by picking up three crucial wickets against the St Lucia Kings. His impactful spell helped dismantle the opposing batting lineup, setting the tone for the rest of the Guyana Amazon Warriors' bowling attack on the day.

Miraz was brilliantly supported by veteran teammate Imran Tahir, who delivered a phenomenal bowling performance of his own. Tahir conceded just seventeen runs across his four overs while dismantling the opposition with an impressive haul of five wickets. Tahir's exceptional spell earned him the well-deserved title of player of the match for his match-winning contribution with the ball in hand.

Restricted by the fierce Guyana bowling attack, the St Lucia Kings could only manage a total of one hundred and nineteen runs before being bowled out. Despite a modest target, the chase saw some contribution from the debutant Miraz himself, who chipped in with one run during the innings while batting for his new team.

The Guyana Amazon Warriors successfully chased down the target in 18.3 overs, losing six wickets in the process to secure a four-wicket victory. Following the conclusion of the match, captain Imran Tahir heaped praise on the team's bowling unit and the new addition. Tahir noted that Nabi had been their highest-quality and best bowler, but emphasized that Miraz stepped in and performed exceptionally well, proving why having him on the team was wonderful given his status as a world-class bowler performing globally at the international level.
