Israel and Morocco agree to upgrade diplomatic ties to full embassies

Israel and Morocco have officially agreed to further strengthen their diplomatic relations by elevating their existing diplomatic missions to the status of full embassies, alongside a commitment to appoint dedicated ambassadors to represent their respective nations. This significant diplomatic development was formally announced following a high-level meeting that took place in New York, United States.

The crucial negotiations and subsequent agreement were facilitated through the mediation of the United States Mission to the United Nations, with the discussions being hosted in New York. US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz played a central role in mediating the talks between the two countries, bringing together key political figures to advance bilateral cooperation in the region.

The high-level discussions in New York brought together prominent representatives from the involved nations, featuring Israeli official Gideon Sa'ar alongside Moroccan official Nasser Bourita. The talks were convened under the diplomatic facilitation of US figures, including the involvement of United States Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz and broader context associated with Donald Trump.

As part of their commitment to deepening bilateral ties, both governments have outlined concrete economic objectives to be finalized within the current calendar year. Specifically, Israel and Morocco have agreed that by the end of this year, they will successfully complete and conclude two important bilateral accords concerning 'exchange protection' and the 'avoidance of double taxation'.

In addition to diplomatic and economic advancements, the two nations have reached a mutual agreement regarding transportation connectivity between their countries. Israel and Morocco have officially consented to resume direct flights, which is expected to facilitate greater movement, tourism, and business exchanges between the populations of both states.

The formal commitment of the participating governments was underscored by a joint statement released on September 16 through the United States Mission to the United Nations on behalf of the three involved countries. The joint declaration emphasized that the establishment of full, peaceful, and friendly diplomatic relations between Morocco and Israel serves the shared interests of both nations while actively driving forward the momentum of peace throughout the Middle East region.
