Iranian President Defends US Agreement as Honorable Achievement

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has strongly defended a recent agreement reached with the United States, describing the diplomatic development as both a 'big achievement' and an 'honorable' milestone for the country. Speaking from Tehran, the Iranian leader addressed the significance of the diplomatic breakthrough while simultaneously issuing stern warnings against any future threats directed at the nation.
The diplomatic breakthrough stems from a 14-point memorandum of understanding that was officially signed on June 18. This critical accord was successfully mediated through the joint diplomatic efforts of Pakistan and Qatar, facilitating a pathway between Iran and the United States that includes the implementation of a ceasefire as well as a designated framework allowing for 60 days of formal negotiations to reach a final agreement.
Addressing the domestic political landscape and the terms of the accord, President Pezeshkian confirmed that the memorandum of understanding received full authorization and approval from Iran's Supreme National Security Council. Emphasizing the nature of the text, the Iranian president explicitly noted regarding the document that no one will find even a single clause in this agreement that indicates surrender, as all commitments are primarily related to the opposing side.
During his remarks, Pezeshkian also strongly criticized the United States over military actions, specifically highlighting that the US has targeted and attacked Iranian infrastructure, including local schools and hospitals. Alongside these severe criticisms of foreign military aggression, the president firmly maintained that the nation operates from a position of strength and strategic resilience regarding ongoing conflicts.
Elaborating on the timing and necessity of the diplomatic resolution, Pezeshkian asserted that today, when we are in a position of strength and dignity, it is preferable to end the war. Nevertheless, the Iranian leader accompanied this perspective with an uncompromising warning concerning national defense and sovereignty, declaring that they will not bow under any circumstances to any kind of threat, and vowing to stand against them until the last breath and deliver a crushing response.
