Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian delivered a significant address at the 40th International Islamic Unity Conference, which took place in Tehran, Iran, on 27 August 2024. During his speech at the prominent gathering, the Iranian president strongly condemned the ongoing aggression originating from the United States and Israel, drawing attention to regional tensions and international dynamics.

Addressing the assembled delegates and participants in the Iranian capital, President Masoud Pezeshkian explicitly stated that Iran has not started any war in the Middle East region. However, he emphasized with conviction that the nation stands firmly and resolutely against all forms of aggression directed towards it, maintaining a posture of active defense and resilience.

Expanding further on the military and strategic standing of his country, the Iranian leader asserted unequivocally that Iran is currently not in any weak position whatsoever. He added that the nation and its leadership know very well how to defend themselves and protect their sovereign interests against external threats and hostile actions.

Turning his focus toward regional geopolitics and inter-state relations within the broader Islamic world, President Masoud Pezeshkian offered a cautionary perspective regarding regional security. He declared that no Muslim country should ever seek to ensure its own national security at the direct expense of making its immediate neighbors insecure.

The high-profile address in Tehran comes amidst ongoing geopolitical discussions involving major international actors, organizations, and media outlets, including the United States, Israel, Iran, Al Jazeera, and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which notably comprises 57 member countries worldwide.
