A government official in India has been suspended from his duties after a video surfaced showing him crossing a drainage ditch on an elderly resident's back. An additional collector has been appointed to conduct a detailed investigation into the incident.

A government official in India has faced immediate disciplinary action following the widespread circulation of a controversial video on social media. The footage captures Patwari Nilesh Namdev, a government employee, riding on the back of an elderly local resident in order to cross a drainage ditch during a field visit. The incident, which took place in Mata village, has drawn significant public attention and led to swift administrative measures against the official.
According to the verified facts of the case, Patwari Nilesh Namdev was in Mata village for official survey work. During the course of these duties, a local elderly resident named Lalwa Kewat carried the government official across a drainage ditch on his own back. While the initial occurrence took place during the winter season without a specific calendar date recorded, the video of the crossing only went viral several months later.
The circulation of the video prompted immediate intervention from regional authorities. Priya Pathak, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Sidhi, took cognisance of the matter and issued an order for the immediate suspension of Patwari Nilesh Namdev. The visual evidence of a public servant utilizing an elderly citizen as a human bridge during official government survey work triggered widespread scrutiny within the local administration.
In response to the gravity of the incident, the local administration has initiated formal proceedings to examine the full context and accountability surrounding the event. Officials confirmed that a detailed investigation has been officially launched to uncover all circumstances related to how the Patwari came to ride on the elderly villager's back.
To ensure a thorough and impartial inquiry, the responsibility for the detailed investigation has been formally assigned to Additional Collector B.P. Pandey. The appointed official is tasked with reviewing the actions of Patwari Nilesh Namdev during the survey work in Mata village and submitting findings that will determine further administrative or disciplinary steps.
