Google DeepMind and Google Research Unveil WeatherNext 3 AI Model
Google DeepMind and Google Research have launched the WeatherNext 3 artificial intelligence model, which generates hourly forecasts. The advanced system has already been integrated into several Google services, including Search, Gemini, and Maps.
Google DeepMind and Google Research have officially unveiled a brand-new artificial intelligence weather model named 'WeatherNext 3'. Announced on September 3, this cutting-edge development represents a significant technological leap in the field of meteorological forecasting, introducing advanced capabilities that surpass previous industry standards and limitations.
A major advancement of WeatherNext 3 is its ability to generate fresh forecasts every hour, overcoming the previous limitation where models could only provide predictions at six-hour intervals. Furthermore, this sophisticated new model features 2.4 times more parameters than its predecessor, allowing for a much deeper and more complex analysis of weather data.
The system is capable of delivering detailed temperature and humidity forecasts at a high resolution of up to 5 kilometers. In addition to temperature and humidity, WeatherNext 3 can provide predictions for wind speed and other critical meteorological data at a 10-kilometer resolution, while also forecasting wind speed, cloud cover, and solar radiation at approximately 100 meters above the ground.
According to the verified specifications, these technological enhancements can increase overall forecast accuracy by up to 50 percent. This substantial improvement provides a much more reliable and granular outlook for various atmospheric conditions, enhancing the precision of meteorological data available to the public and various industries alike.
