Dr Fahmida Khatun Takes Charge as CPD Honorary Fellow in Bangladesh

Dr Fahmida Khatun has officially taken over her new responsibilities as an honorary fellow of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) in Bangladesh, marking a significant transition in her long and distinguished career with the prominent research organisation. Her new role and responsibilities were formally approved during the 68th board meeting of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), with the appointment coming into effect starting from the first day of September 2026.

This new appointment follows her extensive and impactful tenure as the executive director of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), a position in which she served for a long period of nearly nine and a half years. Dr Khatun has maintained a deeply established professional relationship with the organisation for more than two decades, having been formally associated with the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) continuously since the year 2003.

Prior to her transition into the honorary fellowship, she successfully steered the organisation through critical years, having taken over the responsibilities of the executive director in February of 2017. Throughout her leadership trajectory within the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), the organisation achieved notable institutional milestones, including a remarkable growth in the Centre for Policy Dialogue's (CPD) development fund by approximately 590 percent, alongside a substantial increase in annual income by roughly 171 percent.

Academically, Dr Fahmida Khatun possesses a robust educational background from internationally recognised institutions. She successfully earned both her postgraduate degree and her doctor of philosophy (PhD) degree in economics from University College London, further solidifying her extensive expertise in economic research and policy analysis.

The official approval by the board during its 68th meeting ensures that Dr Khatun will continue her association with the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) in this esteemed new capacity. Her ongoing presence as an honorary fellow is expected to further contribute to the institutional knowledge and policy frameworks championed by the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) within Bangladesh and beyond.
